Phoenix to Skull Valley
From Phoenix, take Interstate 17 to the AZ 69 turnoff to Prescott. Then take the Sheldon Street off ramp and proceed, turning right at the light at Montezuma. It becomes Whipple Street after one mile, and then, one mile later, Whipple will become Iron Springs Road. Go north on it for about 14 miles. It will begin to wind southwest out of Prescott. About a mile before you reach Skull Valley and just before you would go under the railroad underpass, turn right on Van Dickson Road. Go over the hill and under a different railroad trestle to see a Van Dickson Ranch sign with an arrow pointing to the left. Turn left, proceed, and you will see the polo field, ranch house, barn, and oak and cottonwood trees. It is only one half a mile off of Iron Springs Road.
Prescott to Skull Valley
From Prescott, take Iron Springs Road and go north on it, and it will begin to wind southwest out of Prescott. In about 14 miles you will reach Van Dickson Road (about a mile before you reach Skull Valley and just before you would go under the railroad underpass). Turn right on Van Dickson Road. Go over the hill and under a different railroad trestle, and you will see a Van Dickson Ranch sign with an arrow pointing to the left. Turn left there, proceed, and you will see the polo field, house, barn, and oak and cottonwood trees.
Directions from Phoenix via Wickenburg
From Phoenix, go north on I-17, turn west (left) on Highway 74 until you reach Highway 60. Turn right and go north for 11 miles to Wickenburg. At the traffic circle, take Highway 93 to Highway 89, turning right on it. Be careful not to miss it. Take 89 through Yarnell and Peeples Valley until you get to Kirkland Junction. BE CAREFUL HERE. Turn left at the junction (#15, Kirkland Valley Road). When you get to Kirkland, turn right (#10, Iron Springs Road) and continue to Skull Valley and then Van Dickson Road and turn left. Go straight (do not turn into the Van Dickson Arena). You will pass under a train trestle and come to a Van Dickson Ranch sign. Turn left. You will see our ranch and the polo field to the right. NOTE: THIS IS THE SAME DISTANCE AS TRAVELING THROUGH PRESCOTT VIA 17, HOWEVER THERE IS LESS TRAFFIC.
